Welcome to my journey with
Blended Learning. As I begin my third year as a blended learning teacher I realize that the more I learn... the more I still have to learn about blending and flipping. I am, by no means, an expert but want to share my journey and hopefully help others. [email protected] Twitter: @pbarrhorses |
A Little About Me
My name is Paula Barr. I teach second grade in Lawrence, Kansas. I have been teaching 34 years, the last 3 as a blended learning teacher. I was awarded the Lawrence Schools Foundation Excellence in Teaching, Bob's Award in 2004 and named Lawrence Public Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2014. I am especially proud to have received INACOL's Blended and Online Teacher of the Year Award in 2015.
I have devoted my teaching career to innovative movements in education with a focus on building student community and achievement. Two years ago I was selected along with 80 other teachers K-12 to participate in a new district innovation, blended learning, designed to improve student engagement. Blended Learning changed the way I percieved my students, thought about their path as learners and helped them know and understand their own strengths, needs, and personally successful modes of learning. I know that in the last two years, as a blended learning teacher, I have been the most effective teacher I have ever been . I have been re-energized and re-inspired all because of blended learning and the changes I experienced in myself, my classroom, and my students.
